About Villa La PAILA
La Paila is a fully equipped villa ready for you to use as your home in Costa Rica. Built and still owned by one family, the house is now cared for by a husband-wife team who are also a landscape architect and architect. To make your stay easy and relaxing, La Paila is staffed year-round with our permanent employee, Marilu. She is there for you Monday through Saturday to prepare and serve meals, do daily housekeeping and laundry…to ensure you have the perfect holiday.
The house comfortably sleeps nine in four bedrooms. You’ll love the elegant master suite with its private outdoor shower, newly renovated! The house is in a very safe and quiet location and all the bedrooms are secure and air-conditioned.
Situated on the Pacific coast of the Guanacaste Peninsula, the nearby towns of Carrillo and Samara are unspoiled by over development. You’ll spend much time at Carrillo beach which is just five minutes from the house and has no development along its gorgeous two miles. Some 30 years ago hundreds of palm trees were planted along its entire length making it one of the most beautiful and iconic beaches in all of Costa Rica. Still laid back and casual, the towns nevertheless cater to tourists both international and Tico and are home to numerous ex-pats making for a vibrant local community. In nearby Samara, you’ll find all your shopping needs but also try the numerous excellent restaurants and many activities!
La Paila is loaded with Tico flavor. The house was designed by a Costa Rican architect in the colonial style and is appointed with furniture, antiques, woodworking and arts made locally. ‘La Paila’ is Spanish for ‘cooking pot’ and refers to the five antique iron cauldrons on the grounds: these were used originally in colonial sugar cane plantations. Immerse yourselves a bit on your vacation at La Paila!
La Paila is also designed with entertainment and relaxation in mind! There’s plenty of space to relax in the amazing ‘big room’ which contains two dining areas, several seating areas and an indoor hammock and ping pong table! The swimming pool is just feet from the living room overlooking the Pacific; it’s where to be at sunset.

Playa Carrillo is one of the few beaches which has not been developed and is as pristine and beautiful as it was 20 years ago! It is a great beach for couples and families and is never too crowded. If you want to get away from it all, and just rest and relax, La Paila and Playa Carrillo are perfect.
